Award winning belly dancers, Marya and Emalee are known for their dynamic energy and synchronicity on stage. They have been performing together since 2005 and have become well known throughout the Midwest as the Shimmy Twins. Marya and Emalee are members of the Blue Lotus Middle Eastern Dance troupe based in Rochester, MN. The Blue Lotus is directed by Julianna, who they found to be an artistic director with the creativity and professionality they were looking for.
They joined the Blue Lotus Dance Company in 2005 and have been an major part of the company’s shows. Along with the their participation with the Blue Lotus dance shows, the Shimmy Twins have enjoyed being featured belly dance performers at events in the Midwest such as Highland Fest 2009, Sommerfest 2008 and 2009, the Minnesota Renaissance
Festival 2009.

Marya and Emalee are members of Julianna and the Blue Lotus Middle Eastern Dance troupe, based in Rochester Minnesota.
With the Blue Lotus, the Shimmy Twins have been an integral part of unique and theatrical belly dance productions performing for large enthusiastic audiences. The Blue Lotus shows have been well received by the theatre and dance community in Rochester and Minneapolis, which encourages new and cutting edge performances by the Blue Lotus. Past shows include:
